    I painted a guitar with 2k acrylic, and then 2k clear. I sanded through the clear on the very edge, 90 degree edge, just into the color base. I did this before polishing with a 1200 grit paper. I'm curious how I can apply your method to avoid having to sand and respray the entire guitar. Is there a reason I shouldn't tape off anything beyond 1in of the small edge sand through? I was thinking I can spray more clear and then the UPOL blender and follow the rest of your guidance from this vid. Is it critical to spray more color or can I get away with just clear and blender?

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise 3 дня назад

      If it was me, I would sand it all down with 600. Blow a little color on it and then re clear the entire guitar, but if you wanted to just spot in that area you wanna wet sand with 1500 around the area where you'll apply the clear coat, blow in a little color on that burn through and then Blend and the clear like I did in the video. Then you gotta wash it in with a little reducer then you need to wet sand lightly and buff it out, but being that a guitar is not very big. I would just reclear the whole thing, it's gonna make it a lot easier.

    When you're blocking and you have a low spot with guide coat in it can you put body filler over that or do you need to sand the primer off before you put filler

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise 3 дня назад

      Some filler is made to go over primer some is not. You definitely must sand it with at least 180. Best bet is to use a glazing putty like icing it's designed to use over primer and a 180 grit scratch. 👍

    Hi Chris, I've done a few hoods that had peeling clear coat. After feathering out and using high build primer, then blocking it out, I still say waves and dimples (only happens on hood) should I start using filler so this doesn't happen anymore?

    Your videos are so great! Much appreciated. I've painted cars....but it was probably 25 years ago...so mostly relied on advice from one guy....WAY before RUclips had so many talented folks on it. Also, technology has changed. So...I have a question. I have a 14 year old Toyota with 130K miles on it. It's in pretty good shape...but has some minor imperfections, and I want to paint it, because that engine has a good 10 years left in it. I'd like the body to be protected. I plan to do a Kirker single-stage acrylic urethane, and paint the entire car. I've managed to get all the tiny "dents" perfect by using your incredible videos as a guide. I'm wondering if you've done a video about how to prep a car to do an overall single-stage paintjob....suggested materials, techniques, etc. I'm obviously a "noob." My apologies for not knowing much.....

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise 3 дня назад

      The prep is pretty much the same for single stage as it is for base coat/ clear coat, with one exception, you can spray over a 320 scratch with single stage. No video's on single stage but one tip put you first coat on lite let it flash and the spray it how you want it to look. Single stage sprays like clear but a bit thinner.

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise 4 дня назад

      Best way when it's hot is to touck the painted paper and if it's tacky and not wet or stringy then it's ready for the second coat. In over 90° depending on your clear coat it may only be 2-3 minutes

    I was thinking about getting that compressor but they also sell one that's smaller with the same 4.5 SCFM on it. It's only 10 gallons. I would assume that would also work with the LVLP sprayer without fluctuations as well then right?

    Hey Chris, well I've learnt something today I never knew that leaving your first coat of clear to long before the second can cause dieback🤔I normally give it 3-5 mins (depending on temps) so it's feels like the sticky side of masking tape and I've never had any issues. I really enjoy what you do and always look forward to your videos so thanks for taking the time to make them for us🙏🙏👍John UK

      Honestly I've never really used it to reduce my clearcoat. I know guys whe do and it might help clear flow out by slowing it down. My concern was always, will it hurt the durability and uv protection. Theoretically is should all evaporate and gas off, but that why I haven't. Maybe I will one day and do a video.
